"Maybe this world is another planet's Hell." -Aldous Huxley
Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation. --Oscar Wilde, De Profundis, 1905

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just take the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy....... The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Share this with other women who are good apples, even those who have already been picked! Now Men.... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

I am done with great things and big things, great institutions and big success, and I am for those tiny invisible molecular moral forces that work from individual to individual by creeping through the crannies of the world like so many rootlets, or like the capillary oozing of water, yet which, if you give them time, will rend the hardest monuments of man's pride.--William James

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television. Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit crushing game shows, stuffing junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose a future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? Renton, "Trainspotting"

"It's everybody, i mean. Everything everbody does is so - i don't know- not wrong or even mean, or even stupid necessarily. But it's just so tiny and meaningless and - sad-making. And the worst part is, if you go bohemian or something crazy like that, you're conforming just as much as everyone else, only in a different way." - J.D. Salinger
"Sometimes it's easier to pretend things are okay rather than face a difficult truth. So we go through the motions and rituals of everyday life.We hope the comfortable rhythms of familiarity will hold off the inevitable just a little longer.Return things to normal, anything to buy us more time.Playing pretend, make believe - it might be one thing we never outgrow."-Everwood

Even though I don't have to put on a suit every morning at 8 a.m., we all have one thing in common and that's fear. Call it fear of the unknown, fear of failure or just fear that you can't schedule your social life around your classes. Any way you look at it, these things are always intimidating. Everything seems to scare you at first...

“... have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged; their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone." -Shawshank Redemption
Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build this whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, wanders into your stupid life .... you give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They do something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should just be friends' or 'how very perceptive' turns you into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts, not just in the imagination, not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a body-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.

If you haven't contemplated murder, you ain't been in love. If you haven't seriously thought about killing a motherfucker, you ain't been in love. If you haven't had a can of rat poison in your hand and looked at it for forty-five minutes straight, you ain't been in love. If you haven't bought a shovel and a bag and a rug to roll their ass up in, you ain't been in love. If you haven't practiced your alibi in front of the mirror, you ain't been in love. And the only thing that's stopped you from killin' this motherfucker was a episode of CSI: "Oh man, they thorough. I better make up. They might catch my ass."--Chris Rock
"you know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is chinese, the swiss hold the america's cup, france is accusing the u.s. of arrogance, germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in america are named 'bush', 'dick', and 'colon.' need I say more?" -- chris rock

From "American Beauty."
I had always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die.
First of all, that one second isn't a second at all, it stretches on forever, like an ocean of time...
For me, it was lying on my back at Boy Scout camp, watching falling stars...
And yellow leaves, from the maple trees, that lined my street...
Or my grandmother's hands, and the way her skin seemed like paper...
And the first time I saw my cousin Tony's brand new Firebird...
And Janie...
And Janie...
And... Carolyn.
I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst...
...and then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life...
You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry...
You will someday.

At certain moments, always unforseen, I become happy... I look at the strangers near as if I had known them all my life... everything fills me with affection... It may be an hour before the mood passes, but lately I seem to understand that I enter upon it the moment I cease to hate.
- William Butler Yeats

"We all want to fall in love. Why? Because that experience makes us feel completely alive. Where every sense is heightened, every emotion is magnified, our everyday reality is shattered and we are flying into the heavens. It may only last a moment, an hour, an afternoon. But that doesn't diminish its value. Because we are left with memories that we treasure for the rest of our lives."
"It is worth mentioning, for future reference,
that the creative power
which bubbles so pleasantly in beginning a new book
quiets down after a time,
and one goes on more steadily.
Doubts creep in.
Then one becomes resigned.
Determination not to give in,
and the sense of an impending shape
keep one at it more than anything."
Virginia Woolf

If thou must love me, let it be for nought
Except for love's sake only. Do not say,
I love her for her smile...her look...her way
Of speaking gently...for a trick of thought
That falls in well with mine, and, certes, brought
A sense of pleasant ease on such a day -
For these things in themselves, Beloved, may
Be changed, or change for thee - and love so wrought, May be unwrought so.
